How does an After the Wedding Day registry work?

It is simple and fun! You and your fiancé register for activities that you want to do together (skydiving, kayaking, a beach vacation to Mexico, cooking classes) and let your friends and family know about your registry. Guests can view your items and purchase gifts for you - giving you a chance to have fun and enjoy each other during your newlywed year!

How much does an After the Wedding Day registry cost?

Your registry with us is absolutely free. The only cost to you is the time spent in creating your registry. We will act as your agent for the purpose of collecting funds to purchase your gifts. In order to provide this service to you, we charge your guest a small service fee when purchasing a gift. This service fee is almost always less than sales tax and gift wrapping of a conventional gift.

What types of things can I register for?

Any activity that you and your fiancé want to do together! We have many suggestions in major cities around the US to get your started:

  • Comedy Shows
  • Hot Air Balloon Rides
  • Skydiving or Paragliding
  • Moonlight Kayaking
  • Concert or Theatre Tickets
  • Baseball, Football or other Sporting Game Tickets
  • Golfing Packages
  • Couples Massages
  • Movie Tickets and Dinner Out
  • Weekend Getaways
  • Camping Trips

If you have a favorite activity or restaurant that is not on our list, there are spaces to add your own personal favorites. After the Wedding Day reserves the right to edit or delete any items we feel are inappropriate.

Can I register for honeymoon activities?

Yes! We have created a honeymoon section in each registry. Because honeymoon activities vary greatly (some go to tropical paradise while others go backpacking through Europe), we have provided blank boxes for you to fill in the activities you wish to register for. We suggest that you research activities available at your honeymoon destination and register for the things that sound appealing to you! View sample honeymoon items.

Can we have other gift registries, too?

Yes! In fact, we suggest that you do create other gift registries. Many guests attending your wedding are accustomed to (and will be more comfortable with) traditional gift registries. Not to mention we can all use new towels and sheets around the house! Most After the Wedding Day couples have this registry as a complimentary registry to one or two other, more traditional registries.

How do we let people know we are registered here?

Once you have created a registry, you will have the option to email information about your new registry to family and friends. Many brides have entire showers created around their After the Wedding Day registry!

How long will our registry stay open?

We will keep your registry online for 12 months after your wedding date.

What happens to our personal information?

We are completely committed to protecting your privacy and that of your wedding guests (see our Privacy Policy for full details). After the Wedding Day does not share or sell your personal information, and we don't try to "sell" anything to you or your guests.

How do we receive the money from our gifts?

When you return from your honeymoon you will receive a check in the mail totaling the amount of gifts that were purchased prior to your wedding date. If additional gifts are purchased after your wedding, you will be sent a check in 6 months and again in 12 months.

How do we find out when a gift has been purchased?

You will receive an email notification of any gift purchased through your After the Wedding Day registry. You may also log into your account at any time to check the status of all gifts purchased. If a guest chooses to keep their gift a surprise until the wedding (or shower) date, you will be notified that a gift has been purchased, but the actual gift and gift giver's name will not be revealed until the date they have specified.

Why don't our guests just send us cash?

Most likely, some of your guests will! However, many people want to give you something that feels more personal. Giving a gift of a scuba diving trip, movie passes or a hot air balloon ride is more memorable! Your wedding guests want to get you something special you'll remember forever.

What if my city isn't on your list?

You can still create an After the Wedding Day registry. On the city selection page, you will see an option to click on "my city isn't on the list". This will begin the registry creation process.

As a guest, how do I get started?

All you need to do is locate your couple's registry by entering their name on our homepage. This will allow you to view the activities they have registered for and purchase one for them!

How does the couple receive their gift?

The couple will receive an email immediately notifying them that a gift has been purchased. They will then receive the cash to fulfill the activity purchased after their wedding day.

What if I want to keep my gift a surprise until their wedding day?

You will have the option to keep the gift a surprise until any date that you specify. This option is utilized mostly for gifts that are purchased for bridal showers but gifts may also be kept secret until the wedding day.

What is the service charge?

This fee is how After the Wedding Day is able to offer our couples this valuable service. A 6% service charge that is added on to the wedding gift at time of purchase - in most cases, amounts to less than sales tax and gift wrap for the more traditional wedding gift. This helps pay for the transaction costs (credit card fees, processing fees) and customer service costs. And, most importantly, when a guest purchases a $50 gift for you, you receive the entire $50 gift; not a $45.50 or lesser value gift.
