Choosing a Honeymoon Destination

If you are looking for the perfect honeymoon destination, you are probably feeling overwhelmed at the many choices available to you. You want this trip to be one of the most memorable in your lifetime, filled with warm and loving memories. If you choose the wrong honeymoon destination you may not enjoy yourselves as much as you could.
The first thing couples must decide is when to take their honeymoon. Years ago most people went immediately after the wedding, sometimes leaving on the same night! These days more and more couples are opting to wait a few months before taking their trip. After all the wedding fun and planning many people feel the post-wedding blues so postponing your honeymoon leaves something to look forward to. Many people will go away to a private bed and breakfast or for a short weekend getaway so they can enjoy a "mini-moon" right after the wedding.
As you begin planning the honeymoon you first step is to determine how long you want your honeymoon to last. If you only have a short vacation, you may want to eliminate destinations such as Europe or Asia. Because of jetlag, many people need a couple days to become acclimated to the time change. If you lose a few days to jet-lag you may feel as if your trip is over before it's even begun. For short vacations of a week, the Caribbean is one of the most ideal vacation spots destinations. Many of the different islands offer fantastic package deals. These exclusive resorts offer a complete vacation package: food, drinks, entertainment, and a fabulous location, all for a very reasonable price. The Caribbean offers newlyweds a chance to bask in the warm sun and enjoy each other's company in a beautiful setting. The Caribbean is the ideal location winter honeymoons.
If lying in the sun is not your idea of a good time, there are plenty of great honeymoon destinations in North America. Consider one of the many resort type towns that offer plenty of outdoor activities. Banff, Alberta is a unique resort town in the middle of the Rockies. If you ski or snowboard you and your sweetie will enjoy the fantastic hills in this area. Banff is a winter paradise, with plenty to do, and a town that is full of unique shops.
If you prefer not to travel far, find a cozy bed and breakfast near your home. Many offer spa packages, including massage and other pampering. A getaway such as this is a super way to relax and enjoy one another's company.
For those with an opportunity to enjoy two or more weeks away on a honeymoon, there is an almost endless choice of fabulous destinations around the world. The South Pacific is an increasingly popular honeymoon destination. With wonderful year-round weather, these luxury resorts treat you as if you were royalty.
With all of these choices available, you and your future spouse need to spend some time deciding what you most want from your honeymoon. Sitting down with a stack of travel brochures will be almost as much fun as the trip itself. Make the right choice, and you'll create a most memorable experience.
